Vaelon — Privacy Policy

Vaelon is a private, on-device AI assistant. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect. In short: your conversations, prompts, notes, images, audio, and transcripts never leave your device.

1. What stays on your device (never collected)

All AI features run locally on your phone. The following are processed entirely on-device and are never sent to us or any third party:

• Your chat messages, prompts, and the AI's responses.
• Notes and any content from a connected Obsidian vault.
• Images you attach, photos, and camera input.
• Audio you record and any transcripts produced by the Transcribe feature.
• Daily Briefing content and the topics you choose.
• Downloaded AI models and any files you open.

2. What we collect (beta only)

While Vaelon is in beta, the app sends limited, anonymous diagnostic information so we can find and fix problems and understand which features are used. This is disclosed on first launch. It includes:

• Device & app info: device model, Android version, and app version.
• Performance data: on-device inference speed, which compute backend is active, the size/type of the model in use, and which app features are used.
• Reports you choose to send: if you use "Report an issue" or "Share your thoughts," we receive the message you write, plus (only if you tick the box) the app's own technical diagnostic logs, which may contain model names and file paths. These reports never include your chat content.

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise or coarse location, advertising identifiers, or any content of your conversations.

3. How it's sent and used

Diagnostic data is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a private server operated by the developer and is used solely to improve the app's stability and performance. The endpoint is write-only: data is submitted but cannot be read back through the app.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties. Diagnostic data goes only to the developer's own server. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

5. Your choices

Diagnostic collection is on during the beta to help stabilize the app. When the beta ends, you will be able to turn it off in the app's settings. You can stop all collection at any time by uninstalling the app. The "Report an issue" and "Share your thoughts" submissions are always optional and only sent when you choose to send them.

6. Data retention & deletion

Diagnostic data is anonymous and not linked to your identity. To request deletion of any report you submitted, contact us at the address below with enough detail to locate it (e.g. approximate date and device model).

7. Children

Vaelon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
